Dear Social Media
Dear Social media,
I confess. I use you and I do not give you in return what you want from me.
You want me to tell you my opinions on various topics. I will not.
You want me to tell you or “hint” what I did in the ballot box. I will not.
You want me to update my status when something upsets me and without saying names call people out. I will not.
You want me to share 15 second videos that do not show the entire story. I will not.
You want me to believe the things I see on your platform. I will not.
You want me to reply in defense to those that comment negatively on my post. I will not.
You want me to post pictures of only the really good things and call it real life. I will not.
You want me to hate people that do not look like me or think like me. I will not.
You want me to turn to you when I am bored or I need an escape. I will not.
You want me to post things that I would never say to someone's face. I will not.
You want me to post a picture that is going viral because somehow posting it will make me a better person. I will not.
You want me to use hashtags to dig at people or cut people down. I will not.
You want me to judge a person's relationship with the Lord based solely off their political party or mask stance. I will not.
Here is what I will give you.
Jesus.
How He changed me, how He heals me and how so very good He is to me even when my flesh gets in the way. How through Him I am constantly reminding myself to love people even when I do not agree with them AND still be who He created me to be in the process.
Oh yeah... and I will give you some really good yoga also ;)
Social media that is all you need from me. Nothing more. This is all of me you are going to get.
Sincerely,
Your worst social impression (that is all WE are)
